Who will manage your online life in the future? Your email, your social media, your banking, the photos in the cloud — it's all behind passwords that no one else knows. You don't want to just throw that data around, but it should end up with the right person when you're gone. That's what the PSILY digital safe was created for.
What is the Digital Vault?
The digital vault is an extra secure space within PSILY where you keep your most sensitive legacy: login details, passwords, a copy of important documents, or a personal text, audio or video message. The content is end-to-end encrypted and only released to one person you choose — when needed.
The big difference with a regular message: the vault is so encrypted that even PSILY deliberately can't access it. Only the person you have chosen can open the safe, and only with the key that you have given them personally.
How does it work? In four steps
1. Create a safe
You create a safe for the person who can receive your data later. You can create multiple safes — a separate safe for each loved one, each with its own contents.
2. Secure the vault with a passphrase
You set a secret passphrase. This is the key to the safe. PSILY generates a strong sentence for you that you can print as a repair kit, or you can choose one yourself. Apart from PSILY, you give this sentence physically to the recipient, for example on paper in your will or with the notary.
3. Fill the vault with messages
Add what you want to leave behind: a text message with passwords, a voice message, or a video message. Everything is encrypted in your own browser before anything is sent to PSILY. So we never receive the readable content, only unreadable ciphertext.
4. The safe will be delivered
If your account is activated - after your counselors (your trusted buddies) have confirmed that the time has come - your chosen person will automatically receive an invitation. To open the safe, he needs three things: a code by text message, a code by email, and the passphrase he received from you earlier. Only with all three together does the safe open.
This is how secure the digital safe is
The digital vault works according to the principle of end-to-end encryption, also known as zero-knowledge. The key is derived from your passphrase and only exists in the browser — never on our servers. The SMS code and email code are extra locks that secure the delivery, but the real key is and remains your passphrase.
That also means something important: if the recipient loses the passphrase, the safe can never be opened again — not even by Psily employees. Therefore, keep that sentence carefully. It is precisely this inability to watch that makes the safe so safe: what you leave behind really remains private.
Who is the digital safe for?
The digital safe is intended for anyone who wants to transfer their digital life neatly and securely. Think about access to email and social media, insurance policies, a list of subscriptions that need to be canceled, or a final personal message for those you love. The digital vault is part of PSILY Premium and the storage counts in your account.
